TFX Turns 20!

Seasons of Love, Rhythm of Life, Time to Shine, This is Me, Wizard of OZ… it sounds like a theatre guide of top West End and Broadway shows!

In fact, these are just a few of the shows staged in Inverness at Eden Court Theatre by TFX Performing Arts Academy.

This year our much-loved theatre school has reached a huge milestone by marking its 20th anniversary.

That’s two decades of entertaining Inverness audiences while teaching a generation of student not just theatre skills, but invaluable life skills.

Our students get far more out of being involved in theatre than just the buzz of performing and having a hobby.  It brings out confidence even in the quietest students, pushes them out of their comfort zone, teaches essential life skills, such as teamwork, respect and mixing with people.

So many of our students start with us at a very young age of 3 and 4 and stay with us until they leave for further studies.
It’s an absolute joy to watch our students grow in confidence.

One of our greatest joys is to have our second generation TFX’ers come through our doors as current students in our classes.
It is an absolute honour to have taught their parents as young people and to have them now entrust their children to our care and tuition.
But beyond being a fun and exciting learning experience, TFX can be – and has been – a stepping stone to a successful career in the theatre world.
TFX is able to boast of former students working in the performing arts industry up and down the country as well as abroad.
We have the privilege and honour to follow the careers and successes of our former students and we are still in close contact with most of them.
We’re extremely proud of all of our students who have followed their hearts and found their paths in life.

One of the biggest names to have attended TFX is Karen Gillan who was in our very first show at Eden Court – Seasons of Love.

When you go to see a TFX show you could be watching the next big star performing in front of you!

All of this is thanks to our Principal, Sally Robertson who founded TFX Performing Arts Academy in Inverness back in 2000.  Sally’s vision for performing arts tuition and standards for her school are still a core foundation in our ethos today.
Performing arts, teaching and mentoring our students is at the heart and soul of our teaching team.

Many of our teachers were once students at TFX Performing Arts Academy who have gone away to study performing arts and then come back as fully trained teachers to pass on their knowledge and skills to the next generation.

2020 will bring more great classes, RAD ballet and LAMDA exams, 2 great shows at Eden Court, a trip to “Can you Dance” in Glasgow, Strictly Inverness, Charity appearances and much, much more!

So what about the next 20 years of TFX?
We keep going as we are going.
TFX is very much a family in terms of everyone involved.

We look forward to continuing to work with our current students and we’re excited about all of the students we are yet to meet.
