Stretching at home

Every dancer should be stretching at home. Flexibility is a huge part of all kinds of dance and the best place to do it is out of class. Make sure you’re stretching safely and effectively by following these simple guidelines.

– Stretch when your muscles are already warm, run around or jump up and down even walking can warm up your muscles.

– Don’t rush your stretches, it should be an important part of your daily routine.

– Relax your breath, holding your breath tightens up your muscles and will make stretching more difficult

– Stretch gently, stretch only until the point you feel mild tension in the muscle then hold your stretch for at least 15 seconds. Bouncing when you stretch can damage your muscles.
