About the Scholarships – Please read this info carefully to help with your application.

TFX is the longest running musical theatre school in the Highlands with over 20 years experience. We call on the knowledge and skills of professional teachers, actors, musicians, dancers, choreographers and performers to train and nurture boys and girls up to age 18 in our 3 hour, once a week sessions.

Students at TFX Performing Arts Academy actively enjoy a balance between class time to develop personal skills and preparation time for stage performances – everything from auditioning, rehearsing, script writing, directing and design input to the final stage production.

Regularly scheduled shows at Eden Court Theatre along side work-in-progress sharing for parents, and other appearances mean that all students can experience the exhilaration of performing on stage. TFX students carry themselves with confidence and many of them have gone on to have successful careers, following their dreams by working in performing arts. Others have successful careers in different industries but strongly attribute their success to the life skills they learned through their time at TFX.

We have two types of scholarships on offer. Both offer the same benefits / prizes but one will take into account the applicants socio-economic background as well as talent.

Scholarship Type 1

This is designed to allow access to training without the strain of a financial burden. This scholarship is aimed at low income families and those who would other wise perhaps not be in a financial position to offer their child / dependant this opportunity. If you would like to be considered for this reason please detail this in the “why are you applying for the scholarship” section.

Scholarship Type 2

The other whilst still offering financial relief will be judged solely on a skills basis.

When scholarships awards are handed out the type will remain anonymous to the public. Please apply for both in the same way.

The  Benefactors

Karen Gillan

Karen is best known as the enigmatic Nebula in record breaking smash hits AVENGERS: ENDGAME and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, along with both GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY films. She can also be seen in box office sensation JUMANJI as the only female lead opposite Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, and Jack Black, and it’s similarly well received sequel JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL. Other film credits include, James Ponsoldt’s THE CIRCLE, Adam McKay’s Best Picture nominated THE BIG SHORT and Blumhouse horror OCULUS. She will next be seen leading StudioCanal’s GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE, and Judd Apatow’s THE BUBBLE

“I have been fortunate enough to have a career in the performing arts. This is largely due to my training at TFX. Therefore I want to invest in the new generation of young performers in the Highlands.
It wasn’t always easy for my family to afford to send me to classes growing up. Therefore I want to extend two places at TFX to young performers from lower income families, like I was. I hope this opportunity will be the beginning of something really exciting for the successful applicants.
Thanks!” — Karen
